GLP-1s work. They're not for everyone.
GLP-1 medications are effective. A licensed provider has to clear you before this program makes sense for you. Start with the eligibility check; a provider takes it from there.
How these medications work
GLP-1 medications are well-studied and effective for the right patient. Here is the honest picture.
GLP-1 receptor agonists are a class of medications that mimic a hormone involved in appetite regulation and insulin secretion. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes management, they have produced documented weight reduction in clinical trials when prescribed to appropriate patients.
They work at a hormonal signaling level, promoting satiety and reducing caloric intake. They are not appetite suppressants in the traditional sense. They require subcutaneous injection on a weekly schedule with gradual dose increases.
Common agents in this class include semaglutide and tirzepatide. Both are available in FDA-approved branded formulations. Compounded versions have been widely used during periods of manufacturer shortage; the regulatory picture around compounded formulations continues to evolve.
All GLP-1 prescriptions require evaluation by an independent licensed provider. ForgeVita does not prescribe, evaluate, or practice medicine.
Why we gate this program
GLP-1 candidacy is a real clinical question. The gate exists because it has to.
GLP-1s are not appropriate for patients with certain medical histories, and a provider who says no when it is not a fit is part of the value, not an obstacle. We don't want patients who shouldn't be on these medications to get them through us.
Every intake starts with an eligibility review by a licensed provider. That review is not a formality. If you are a candidate, the provider moves forward. If you are not, you will hear it plainly and may get a suggestion for a different path. The program being provider-evaluated does not mean it is hard to access. It means the right clinical check happens first.

What a provider evaluates
These are educational factors providers typically consider during evaluation. This is not a quiz or screening tool.
BMI and weight history
Providers typically consider BMI as a starting point. Individual history, prior weight loss attempts, and comorbidities all factor in. BMI alone does not determine candidacy.
Medical history
GLP-1 medications are contraindicated for patients with certain personal or family history of thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2. Full medical history is required.
Current medications
GLP-1 agents interact with medications including other diabetes drugs and some blood pressure medications. The provider reviews your full current medication list.
Willingness to do ongoing follow-up
GLP-1 treatment requires ongoing provider review and dose management. Patients who want a one-time prescription without follow-up are not appropriate candidates.
